Women’s History Month Reminder: You Don’t Need Permission to Lead
|
Hello Reader, For a long time, I kept playing small in rooms God had clearly called me to lead. I had the education. But when it came time to speak, lead, or sell in my business, I hesitated. I softened my voice. If we’re honest, many Christian entrepreneurs experience this tension. We say we’re waiting for clarity. Permission from the market. Then something clicked for me. I remembered who sent me. Romans 8:11 reminds us that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in us. The authority to lead, build, and serve did not come from titles, likes, or someone else’s approval. It came from God. And when that truth settled in my spirit, I stopped apologizing for my voice. This month also reminds us of something important. March is National Women’s History Month, and history is filled with women who stepped into assignments long before society believed they belonged there. Take Dr. Patricia Bath, for example. She was a physician, scientist, and inventor who became the first Black woman doctor to receive a U.S. patent for a medical invention in 1988. Her invention, the Laserphaco Probe, revolutionized cataract surgery and helped restore sight to thousands of people around the world. But here is what many people do not realize. When Dr. Bath began her career, women made up less than 10% of physicians in the United States, and the number of Black women in medicine was even smaller. Yet she continued. Not because the system gave her permission. But because she understood her purpose. And the same is true for you. Your business is not just a business. It is an assignment. Your message is not just content. It is stewardship. So if you’ve been shrinking lately, let this be your reminder: You don’t need more permission. You need to remember who sent you.
